On Current Strategies for Hardware Acceleration of Digital Image Restoration Filters
نویسنده
چکیده
Two advanced design methodologies for hardware acceleration of a standard digital image restoration algorithm are explored and compared. The first one is the custom-designed hardware approach, leading to an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) implementation. The second one consists of the configurable processor approach, yielding a mixed hardware/software implementation running on a Tensilica Xtensa V (T1050) microprocessor. Both implementations may be embedded as cores in System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. The two methodologies are compared from several standpoints, including implementation size, data throughput, customization, non-recurring engineering and production costs, and flexibility. Key-Words: Image restoration, adaptive Wiener filter, hardware acceleration, SoC design, ASIC, configurable processor, Tensilica Xtensa.

Image Restoration Using A PDE-Based Approach
Image restoration is an essential preprocessing step for many image analysis applications. In any image restoration techniques, keeping structure of the image unchanged is very important. Such structure in an image often corresponds to the region discontinuities and edges. The techniques based on partial differential equations, such as the heat equations, are receiving considerable attention i...
متن کاملImage Restoration with Two-Dimensional Adaptive Filter Algorithms
Two-dimensional (TD) adaptive filtering is a technique that can be applied to many image, and signal processing applications. This paper extends the one-dimensional adaptive filter algorithms to TD structures and the novel TD adaptive filters are established. Based on this extension, the TD variable step-size normalized least mean squares (TD-VSS-NLMS), the TD-VSS affine projection algorithms (...

متن کاملGuided Image Filtering for Image Enhancement
Noise removing belongs to image restoration in digital image processing. It’s the essential guarantee of identifying image information and the reliable guarantee of making further image processing. A satisfying result can’t be found if processing method such as feature extraction, registration or image fusion is carried out on an image with noise. So removing noise is absolutely necessary for i...
متن کاملBiomedical Image Denoising Based on Hybrid Optimization Algorithm and Sequential Filters
Background: Nowadays, image de-noising plays a very important role in medical analysis applications and pre-processing step. Many filters were designed for image processing, assuming a specific noise distribution, so the images which are acquired by different medical imaging modalities must be out of the noise. Objectives: This study has focused on the sequence filters which are selected ...
